It is a brand new year, and we hope to begin it with a bang! We have lots of exciting projects ahead, and want to share them in a fresh, new way in 2021!Continue reading “Into 2021 + Short Story”
For the month of December, I have a delightful craft to share with you!
This is a small doll outfit I embellished upon. It was originally on a stuffed toy that was found in a Little Library box. Kai kept the outfit and then asked if I would add on to it. So here it is!
Interestingly, from looking at the seams, it looks like it was a homemade piece to begin with. I then added the pink lace trim( a garage sale bargain) and a few beads to brighten up the neckline. I think it ended up pretty cute! Now I just need to find someone to wear it…
These guys weren’t quite the size, but we thought you’d enjoy seeing them! Kai has been giving new looks to old stuffed animals, and some of them look almost real at a distance.
Kai made these by taking apart old Beanie Babies and re-stuffing them with scrap cloth. They were then re-shaped by sewing and then painted and decorated into a whole new character. I think she did a great job creating these little critters.
So I hope you enjoyed the last post of recycled craft projects for this year. Doing these blogs definitely gave me a new challenge in crafts and maybe it gave you some new ideas and inspiration. Thanks for reading, and I truly hope you found some peace and beauty during the holidays, I know this year has been a rough ride for us all. I wish you a joyful New Year, and many blessings to come.
Hi again to everyone! I give to you another recycled project, this one being a fairly simple one. It is also functional, as it is a basket, it will be used to hold things in. Kai found this one being thrown away and saved it for me, as I recently have taken a liking to wooden baskets.
It had some discoloration, so after cleaning it, I found a similarly colored paint( I used an outdoor paint because they withstand more without chipping) and I painted over the damaged area. You really can’t tell where the discoloration was!
Here are a few other baskets that I have rehabbed, which now hold all of my yarn and knitting/crochet supplies. These ones were cleaned up, and to prevent mold I rubbed them down with a mixture of olive oil, peppermint and tea tree oil. (Now they smell really good, too!)
Hope you enjoyed viewing the baskets! Peace and love to you, my friends!
For the month of October, the recycled project is again for the garden. A repaired bird feeder and a makeshift bird bath are now helping the wildlife in our yard.
Hello everyone! This month’s craft project is a beautiful necklace that was made of used materials. In addition to that, I also want to show you some other jewelry projects that Kai and I have created over the years.Continue reading “ARIANNA’S RECYCLED CRAFT PROJECT: SEPTEMBER”
Avery: on Nov 8th, “A Pebble in the Pond”, a documentary film I contributed to, will have a fundraiser private virtual screening! Every ticket is tax deductible and supports the assistance league of long beach and their philanthropic programs. So not only do you get to watch the film, you get to support a good cause! One ticket (50$) is all you need for the entire family to watch. The film will be provided as a private YouTube link, and will be available to watch for a couple of days after. The film will return to film festivals afterwards, so this is the one and only time to watch the film online in the foreseeable future! This will be the first time I’ll be seeing the film myself, so I’m very excited! The film is self described as a “Feel Good” movie, and will make the audience ask-
“How can I create ripples too?”
Get tickets, watch the trailer, and learn more info at-
Additionally, I did an Instagram Live Chat with director Paul Howard on his instagram, check it out!
This post is another one that deviates from the art projects, and focuses on our sustainable living interests. So here are some more ideas for recycled projects you can make for your garden and outdoors!Continue reading “RECYCLED CRAFT PROJECT: AUGUST”
Avery: While not necessarily an animated short film, you can think of this as an animated art piece. Dialogue was written by me and was included in a separate art piece I had done quite some time ago, this animation is a sort of reboot of that artwork. Voice performance was done by me, and was the first time I have ever used my voice in a creative way like this. Enjoy!
“Spirit Animal Meditations” is a new project we have just completed. I had a stroke of inspiration to do something different than the usual art I create, and the idea of recording a guided meditation came to me. Because of all of the stress and upset that has been going on in the world for many months now, I know a lot of us are needing a way to get calm, regain some clarity and just breathe! Adults are surely stressed, but this has been very hard on children as well. A guided meditation seemed like a good way to offer a space for some relaxation and centering to take place. Kai suggested I use the animal themed meditations she had written awhile ago. These were written with kids in mind, though adults can enjoy them as well! I had a good time narrating Kai’s lovely journeys with the Mother Bear, the Loving Dog, and the Magical Rabbit. And as always, Avery’s audio ambience adds a calming background music. I am very pleased with how these turned out, and I feel this was a project I was called to do during this difficult time. So please enjoy these, whether you are a child or adult. I encourage parents to participate in the meditations with your children. We wish you all love, courage and clarity in these changing times.

Please take a look at I and Arianna’s new art and poetry book. I have joined our poems, photos, art, and a few of my comics into an entertaining compilation of funny and amusing poems we’ve written over the years – some of them, more relevant than ever. Much of the content is based on the joy and humor our beloved companions share with us, including a comic/short story called Milo the Millionaire! I wish to make light of some of the things we’ve all been going through lately, so I hope this book can bring a laugh, a smile, or even if just a little breather to your day. This is sure to bring pet lovers a little joy, so please share!
