“That Monolith” – A Sci-fi Short Story

Avery: This is a short comic that I wrote & illustrated for what was and hopefully still will be a long form story.

“Stranger Worlds Than These” is the intended title of this sci-fi series, with this short tale as the introduction.

With it being Halloween month, I thought what better time to turn this short comic into a voice acted short film then now? Please enjoy!

-THAT MONOLITH- Short Fiction
“That monolith.
No matter dream or reality, every time I set my eyes upon that ancient design, some sick feeling writhes within me, a restless fear in my gut, horrid and unnatural.
If I were to understand why that monolith was created, or what the hieroglyphs read, I could only hope not to loose my mind. For whatever grim purpose this thing has been placed here, in this time and space, all I know is this…
That monument is the final destination of every soul who dared journey beyond the confines of their planetary prison, far past the black sea of stars, and into the unknown. Foolishly leaving behind all they knew for a glimpse of some providential truth, but it is all for naught…
For we whom travel space and time shall never be allowed to return the same way we came. Our stories will never reach beyond the horizon, for our ill fates end here, and here will be our tombstone.”
