Arianna: Here is the recorded version of my original song: Beautiful Blameless. This is one of the first songs I composed, starting as a poem that I fashioned into a musical piece.
As a poem, the inspiration came from a dream I had, where I was aware of myself sleeping (anyone else ever experience that?) As I shaped it to music, it took on a sense of metamorphosis, beauty, pain and waiting. Part of the inspiration was that I once heard it be described that innocence is not a thing that can be lost forever, but a state of being that can still be returned to should one choose to come back to it.
And so this became a song about surrender, innocence, the end of a long, hard battle within, and the peace at the end of it all.
I wrote this song 12 years ago, and as I’m describing this to you, I’ve just uncovered other layers of meaning I had not noticed before.
