Avery: I had a craving, a craving to create, I didn’t know what, I just knew I wanted to make a bit of film. So I grabbed my camera, not even my good camera, just a basic digital camera, and I stepped outside, and began to shoot.

I already knew I was going to use a poem of mine for the film, so I simply played with the camera in the garden, filmed things that looked beautiful and interesting.

I was inspired by a video made by Hunter Creates Things “A Better Way to Make Instagram Reels,” and what inspired me was idea of reinterpreting “Reels” as “Video Poems.”

This is an important change of outlook. “Reels,” “Tic Toks,” or “Shorts” can be works of art too – poems that are creative expressions of yourself.

We think of everything as “Content” in this day and age, but we must remember that everything we create is art, and we should treat it as such.
